Our Services

Developing plans and making material commitments based on inadequate market intelligence, unchallenged assumptions and untested strategies may be very expensive in terms of misallocated capital commitments as well as any opportunity cost.  Decision Nexus’ service offerings are intended to minimize these potential risks.

Decision Support & Testing

Decision Support & Mapping

The objective of Decision Mapping is to provide a structured and disciplined methodology that helps decision making teams develop the best decision and action plan for a given problem or business initiative.  Decision Mapping also provides a documented map that serves as an excellent reference document and an important tool to support and communicate the team’s decisions and resource commitments.

How Does It Work?

Perspective Development

Decision Mapping is a process.  Picture the top of a funnel packed with ideas, problems, needs and/or data.  Somehow these issues and disparate pieces of information must be aligned and triaged so that the relevant information can be converted into actionable intelligence and moved further down the funnel.  Specialized tools and exercises are designed to develop perspective so that the team can understand the overall context of a decision and/or problem.  As more focus is developed, the team moves from the top to the middle of the funnel.

Assessment and Action

The next step is the assessment phase.  This is designed to move the team further down the funnel and applies critical and quantitative analysis of the scenarios and options that seem most relevant based on the perspective(s) developed earlier.  Customized models are developed, specifically Influence-Diagrams which provide an intuitive way to identify, quantify and display essential elements, uncertainties, objectives and their relative influence.  These visual roadmaps allow a team to drill down through a hierarchy of nested modules and assess the multidimensional problems framed by a wargame or scenario planning exercise. This accomplishes the following:

  • Communication of a common array of objectives, issues, uncertainties and decisions
  • The ability to decompose complex problems into modules that teams can work on collaboratively
  • Exploration and graphical mapping of the effects of varying inputs

Comparison of the contributions of each uncertain input on the objective variable using rank order correlation to align probabilities and impacts

Scenario Planning/War Gaming / Red Teaming

Before you commit material capital resources or your brand equity, use this facility to leverage your market understanding, strategic growth plans and competitive intelligence by generating scenarios/actions, challenging them (as a ‘Red’ Team attacker) and then stress testing them further in a ‘safe’ environment (during a Business Wargame). This is executed within the context of a facilitated exercise where teams role play competitors, simulate market forces and the likely positioning of strategic channel partners. This process identifies weaknesses, opportunities, competitor’s likely responses, potential market shifts/consolidations and ventures based on your Company’s initiative(s) in concert with other market variables. With this market ‘test’ and competitive feedback your team is better equipped to stage and engage proactively rather than responding reactively. This could determine the difference between success and failure.
