Steve France offers an extensive background in both the public and private sector. Specifically, Steve served as an Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy and the Merchant Marine as well as an executive leading a high profile University Foundation and most recently, as a successful private sector business owner.

As an entrepreneur Steve recognized at an early stage the broad based opportunity in the natural/organic food segment and launched, with his wife, Nancy George, a 20 year professional chef and serial entrepreneur, a highly successful catering and natural foods retail business which is now iconic within the vibrant Kingston, Ontario business community. Prior to this business launch, Steve was recruited as the Executive Director and Advancement Officer for the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC). Under his leadership, RMC experienced a major expansion of all charitable programs resulting in exponential growth in terms of recognition and financial support for Canada’s sole service academy. In addition to architecting and executing this expansion, Steve reviewed and revamped the financial management system associated with university research grants targeted for RMC. While executing this mandate, he analyzed the broader university grant system, reworked the RMC program and concurrently developed an extensive network as well as a focused awareness of the growing need to broadly market the top tier innovations being generated within the Canadian and American universities. Steve is ideally suited to lead our tech transfer practice.

Prior to entering the private sector, Steve sailed as a Senior Marine Officer in Royal Caribbean Cruise Line and as a Captain in the British Columbia Ferry Corporation, the world’s largest ferry operator. He holds a Canadian Master Mariner Unlimited Marine License.

Steve graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in 1982 (BA Political Science and Economics) and served for nine subsequent years as a Naval Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy. Steve and his family live in Kingston Ontario, Canada.
